Chinese-American teen named member of Rose Parade Royalty
A 17-year-old Chinese-American girl was named as one of the seven members of the 2016 Tournament of Roses Royal Court in California on Monday.
Selected from almost 1,000 applicants, Rachelle Liu will compete with the other chosen court members, all high school seniors, for the title of Rose Queen on October 22.
The Rose Queen float is the traditional lead of the Rose Parade in the US. As part of the USA’s New Year’s Day celebrations, the event is held in Pasadena, California, every year.
